Hearing acuity diminishes over time, and it diminishes with prolonged exposure to noise. For pilots this can potentially lead to unsafe flying conditions.
Dr. Gregory Ricca is an avid pilot, CFII, MEI, with over 24 years of instructing and greater than 5000 hours of flight time. He owns and flies a Beech Baron 58 and a 1940 J3 cub. He is now a recently retired board certified neurosurgeon, Fellow of the American Association of Neurologic Surgeons, and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
During his greater than 32 years of private practice he was an AME for approximately 15 years assisting pilots with medical concerns internationally. He also spent 6 years as a Special Consultant to the FAA in Neurosurgery. His focus is aviation physiology, normal and abnormal aging, and human factors, including how and why we make mistakes and how to avoid them.
Dr. Ricca also enjoys the fine details of the IFR system and is an avid cyclist.
