Dr. Janeen Adrion Kochan

President, Human Factors Scientist, Instructor Pilot, DPE

Dr. Kochan is a former Boeing 767 captain and human factors instructor for a major U.S. air carrier. She holds current and active Airframe and Powerplant, Inspector Authorization, Flight Instructor, and FAA Designated Pilot Examiner privileges and provides training and evaluation services to the aviation industry. She has over 21,000 hours of flying time in a variety of land and sea aircraft and has type ratings in the B-767/757, DC-8, DC-9, YS-11, CV-LB-30, and numerous corporate jets. 

As a human factors scientist, Dr. Kochan conducts human factors research under contract to the FAA, NASA, and others. With over 40-years of extensive research and operational training, her current primary translational research interests include expertise, human and system resilience, human performance, decision making, stress, fatigue, automation, workload, resource management, unexpected events, and training. 

Dr. Kochan holds a PhD in Applied Experimental and Human Factors Psychology from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. She also holds an MS in Industrial and Systems Engineering and a BA in Pre-medicine and Psychology from The Ohio State University. Dr. Kochan serves as an Adjunct Professor teaching system engineering and human factors graduate courses at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide.
