Representatives from the FAA will showcase important updates and initiatives important to the flight training community.
Katie Sample started flying while in high school and graduated with a degree from South Dakota State University. From there she was a Certified Flight Instructor and became an Assistant Chief CFI for a Part 141 flight school. Katie flew Part 135 operations for various companies and held titles such as Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, and training pilot. She is type rated in the CE-500 and CE-650. Katie started in the FAA as an Aviation Safety Inspector for the Des Moines Flight Standards District office where she became a Principal Operations Inspector.
After several years of working as an inspector, Katie became the Front- Line Manager for the Delegation Program Branch, formerly known as AFS-650. As part of an FAA reorganization that occurred in February 2024, Katie became the Operations Section Manager for the Delegation Group, AFS-850; where she is now Acting Group Manager for the Delegation Group.
