A native of Northeast Ohio, Michael Emmerich is a graduate of Kent State University’s College of Aeronautics and Engineering. He holds an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, is a Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument and Multi-Engine, and has Remote Pilot Certificate.
With 15 years of experience as an airline pilot, Michael has built a distinguished career in aviation and currently volunteers his time as an Instructor and Check Pilot for the Civil Air Patrol contributing to the development of future aviators.
In addition to his role in aircraft operations, Michael is actively involved in aviation safety and education. He served as a Safety Judge for the National Intercollegiate Flight Association’s SAFECON Region III in 2021 and is slated to return in 2025. As an FAA STEM Aviation and Space Education Outreach Representative, he promotes aerospace careers and safety awareness among students and educators.
Currently, Michael serves as FAA Safety Team Program Manager – Operations, in the Cleveland FSDO where he leads safety outreach and education initiatives for the General Aviation community. His mission with the FAASTeam is to help reduce aviation accidents and incidents nationwide through building relationships, proactive engagement, and collaboration with the General Aviation community.
