The rapid evolution of technology has always influenced education, with aviation education being no exception. From the introduction of VHS to the proliferation of the Internet and smartphones, each technological advancement has been swiftly integrated into educational methodologies. Also, the pace of adoption continually accelerates. The recent rise of Generative AI exemplifies this trend, with Chat GPT reaching 100 million users within just two months of its release.
In aviation education, AI represents a transformative tool that must be understood from two crucial perspectives: enhancing the quality of instructor training and equipping new instructors with proficiency in AI tools to meet dynamic training demands and evolving knowledge consumption patterns.
This presentation will lay the groundwork for understanding AI, with a particular focus on Generative AI. We will have a look into the fundamental mechanisms behind these technologies to set realistic expectations and recognize potential threats. Participants will be introduced to a variety of AI applications, including those that streamline administrative tasks, personalize student learning experiences, and simulate complex flight scenarios for training purposes.
We will also examine case studies highlighting successful AI integration in flight training programs. Additionally, the session will address ethical considerations and best practices for incorporating AI into educational frameworks.
