Operational Discipline – Do You Really Have It?
Operational Discipline – Do You Really Have It?

As a Flight Instructor you must have and maintain a high level of Operational Discipline.
91.3 Responsibility as a pilot!
The FAA gives a pilot a lot of power, but it comes with great responsibilities. A pilot is responsible for the passengers in his/her aircraft but also other pilots and pax in the air and the people on the ground underneath that aircraft. CFIs have the responsibility to give the student 150% of their time and attention – regardless of their intent to move on to bigger and better things, and provide the student with more than just information – they must ensure the student has a very good fundamental understanding.
I will use several Flight Instruction accidents and incidents to demonstrate how a lack of operational discipline, complacency or lack of knowledge put the CFI and student in a situation that resulted in an accident.
